Birth control pills for men! Well, male rats, anyway . . .

So, a rat is not a man, really (though some men are rats; seems unfair to the rats), but the hormones that this pill works on are similar enough in men and rats that its presumed this will work on human males, too. (Watch the FDA, so scrupulous and worried about birth control options for women approve this without blinking. Bastu'ds!!!)

Personally, I really like the idea. I might even consider being an early adopter of it! And then when my leg falls off, they can recall the pills . . . We'll see! I really like the idea! It's been a long time coming . . .

It has been a long time coming. I have mixed feelings about this. The female birth control market is a multi-billion dollar money maker. I doubt that the companies that profit from it would like the competition. On the other hand, I can't think of a single man that I know that wouldn't love this option, if for no other reason than to avoid being trapped into a family by some crazy bitch. Since men rule this sort of thing in the real world, I can hardly see how you could stop it from hitting the shelves. I wonder how men would handle the responsibility of a daily pill? I suppose eventually it would be developed like the female forms and be available in a three month at a time shot dosage.

Or, they could just put it in beer. That's my solution.---Ruby

Ruby, you are so right! They should put it in beer!!!! Of course, I wonder what it would do to the beer drinking women . . .

Yeah, this will have some interesting effects. And yes, once it hits, I suspect men will be even that much more gonzo about it than women were about their pill! Very few men would complain about being able to have some low-responsibility sex.

This is still a ways off, but I'm truly looking forward to it.

Personally, if I were a guy and I didn't have a vasectomy, I'd be scared sh*tless regarding having sex with anyone who wasn't sterilized herselve and wasn't a long term-partner. So, I think this generally sounds great, though obviously I don't need to worry about it. I can just imagine women who want to get pregnant accusing their significant other of taking it in secret. Could be Jerry Springer funny.

most interesting - esp cos "men complain that condoms reduce sensation during sex, and few are willing to undergo surgery."

what happens in rape cases? would it be possible to catch perpertrators who leave no traces of sperm?

just wondering

I'm not sure if semen would still provide genetic material, even if the semen contained no sperm. Semen without sperm shouldn't appear that different and might still contain cells from its origin, but then again, maybe not . . .
