How to Steal Back the Spotlight

OK, so, you're John McCain. You're in a tight political race. The Democrats just had a very successful, emotionally salient convention. They did a good job of putting you on the defensive. Now you have to conduct your convention next week. So, how do you make a splash and steal the spotlight back immediately???

Nominate a vice presidential candidate that nobody expects: Sarah Palin.

Managed to find an anti-abortion Republican female governor. Admittedly, some here in Louisiana may be disappointed that he passed over Bobby Jindal, but I must say that Palin is a much more attractive pick for McCain to make, on the surface.

It's an obvious ploy to appeal to some of the Hillary voters . . . Now let's see if it works!

I'm waiting to see what Michael has to say, myself . . .

Of course, don't get me wrong. I'm still backing Obama/Biden. I really enjoyed the convention coverage I managed to catch this past week.

Can't wait to get past this horse-race and see if any of these stinkers can do any good for the country . . . I have a lot more hope that Obama will do that good than McCain!

Will he really appeal to many Hillary supporters with an anti-abortion, socially conservative, "fellow maverick" woman VP candidate? I'm doubting, the more I think about it . . .

And feel free to note any comments I sent to you in email...or perhaps I'll add them here if I stop by the office before Tuesday.

It's so disgustingly obvious that McCain is trying to look hip and just feminist enough to not piss off the non-feminist...Makes me not to want for him even more...I'm glad I'm using an alias (and you know why)

Julia Sweeney is a little obsessed. But I'm really enjoying her commentary!

Michael's got the "Trophy Veep" thing going . . . As usual, he's got the wit and shining sarcasm down pat. ;-)
